Etryout FAQ

Q: What are etryout fees?
A: There is no fee, etryout is a free service to help student athletes obtain college scholarships.

Q. How many sports can I sign up for?
A. You can sign up for as many sports as you feel that you have the skills to obtain an athletic scholarship.

Q: How can I register for etryout?
A: Your parent/legal guardian has to register on etryout by filling out the the "Parent Consent Form". You will then be directed to our off-site upload page where all the information will be filled in by you. You will find helpful ideas from our staff to provide the coaches with enough information to make a decision on contacting you. Each sport has different requirements and you will be asked to provide specific information. Once your page is complete etryout will then down load your page to our home page for viewing by interested coaches.

Q: Why does a parent/guardian have to register a student-athlete?
A: There are several reasons. First, most student-athletes are not of legal age at time of registration. Second and most important, is that by doing so, etryout does not act as an agent of the student-athlete and therefore does not in any way jeopardize the amateur status of the student-athlete. Third, the registration is an agreement only between the parent/guardian and etryout.

Q: What type of video can I upload?
A: Our web site will support YouTube, Google and .FLV videos. If you have issues trying to convert your video to an accepted format, please contact the webmaster for assistance.

Q: How long should my video be?
A: It can be as long or as short as you want. Visit your sport in our web site for ideas on what to include in your video. You want the coach to see what you can do, but don't want to put him to sleep because it is too long.

Q: Where can I get a video of myself?
A: Most schools tape all their games, check with your coach. Also, you can have a friend or family member do a short video at home that shows your skills. Coaches are interested in how your perform, not how professional the video is.

Q: Do I have to send a video?
A: Not at all. Each student-athlete has a web page for personal stats that will be viewed by the coaches.

Q: Who can see my web page and video?
A: You can see your page only. College coaches can view all the players in each sport category. Your page is password protected. Keep it in a safe place and do not share it with anyone.

Q: Will my information be shared with anyone?
A: You information will only be available to coaches and to yourself. etryout will not sell, share, or distribute your information to any other party.

Q: What is etryout's privacy policy?
A: Other than information provided by the student athlete or coach, we do not collect any information or use cookies to on our site. Links are provided on our site for use by visitors to our sites. Visitors that use these links are requested to view the their privacy policy as it may differ from that of etryout.
